Tiffin, Ohio – April 14, 2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic has led to millions of employees around the world being laid off and millions more being asked to self-isolate and work from home. While working remotely allows a company to continue to operate while keeping its workforce safe, it comes with a new set of management challenges. Not only do employees have to be managed and communicated with differently, managers must also manage their own emotions during a time of extreme stress all while maintaining empathy for the emotions of their employees.

Dr. Derrick Darden, who has trained extensively in the field of organizational behavior and management and someone with personal experience dealing with strain and emotional health in times of stress as a Gulf War veteran, has updated his top-reviewed book “Cooperating in the Workplace” to include real-world tips for mangers during new-normal in the work world. The book, already successful with two previous editions, has been updated to include a new section specifically dealing with the corona virus and remote work.

“It may seem like these are unprecedented times, but humanity has endured pandemics and crisis before,” says Darden. “Society has gone through the Spanish flu, the Great Depression, September 11th, the Great Recession of 2008 and today we’re up against COVID-19. We have come to know that crisis always brings change, whether we like it or not. These days, that change is happening right before our eyes. We are on the verge of a new normal,” explains Darden.

Dr. Darden’s book was launched on April 7, 2020 and is available in paperback on Amazon and at other book sellers. The e-book will be available shortly. The book is a hands-on manual filled with practical information to help managers and leaders navigate the new workplace challenges presented by the COVID-19 viruses.

“I know there are a number of people facing very serious challenge right now,” says Darden. Darden continues, “I updated the book so that I could get this vital information out quickly to those struggling to cope with these new changes. Many people are facing stress on the home front and are also facing difficulties at work. I am humbled that my knowledge and experience can be used to ease some of that stress and that I can offer people a path to navigate these challenges.”
