17 August, 2020 – Atlanta, GA – The Go Run Foundation, a non-profit organization that hosts road races to support local charities and causes, has announced its first virtual run in partnership with Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, to end social injustice. The virtual run will occur between September 1 and October 19, 2020, and will engage participants from around the world.
The Go Run Foundation decided to organize this event after receiving requests for a virtual run to raise money to fight against social injustices. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization and a non-profit committed to helping people respond effectively to injustices through outreach to millions of members in America. A national online force driven by 1.7 million members, Color Of Change moves decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.
To participate in this virtual run, participants will register online as they would for a traditional in-person race. Individual or team registrations will be accepted. From there, registrants will be able to select their race distance, either a 5k, 10k, or 15k, and their race location. All participants will be able to complete their run anytime between September 1 and October 19, and upload their results to the Go Run Foundation website.
The Go Run Foundation will offer rewards and recognitions to participants who run or walk the most miles run, or raise the most money. All participants will receive a t-shirt and the opportunity to participate in various challenges for prizes or medals.
