About the Author

Dr. John William Santana is a retired college lecturer, formerly at various institutions of higher learning, including the University of Texas—Pan American (now UTRGV) in Edinburg, Texas; South Texas College in McAllen, Texas; and Universidad de Montemorelos in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

He holds a Doctoral degree in Public Health and a Master of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University at Loma Linda, California. He has worked for the US Public Health Service in McAllen, Texas, and as a Public Health Sanitarian at the Los Angeles County Health Department. His main professional interest now is Community Health Education. He has been married to Vasthy Santana since 1972, and has two children and four grandchildren.
