DJ uses video game live streaming platform Facebook Gaming to increase his value and community interaction with his fans.

DJ Epic isn’t waiting for life to return to normal from COVID-19. DJ Epic has led a colorful career in the business – he’s a former digital DJ for Microsoft and the Salvation Army. DJ Epic has also deejayed events that featured artists such as 2Chainz, Fabolous, and YG. But tough times for live performers amid the pandemic have caused some to rethink their career path altogether. Instead of spinning for packed dance floors, DJ Epic now picks up a controller and streams on Facebook Gaming to his dedicated, and growing, new and current fan base.

“The Covid pandemic let me know how vulnerable the life of a DJ can be, because all of the bars and clubs were shut down in my city of St. Louis, and hundreds of my DJ friends were put out of work including myself and some still have not returned to work yet,” said DJ Epic. “With the online video game streaming industry booming it was an opportunity to do something else I love and build something that can be done from the safety of my own home without the risk of being shut down due to a pandemic.”

According to a survey by Pirate.com, 70% of responding DJs have been forced to retrain in other fields. While 29% of those DJs have moved into music production, a whopping 26% of respondents shared that the pandemic has made them less likely to pursue a career in the music industry altogether.

While he did not lose his entire focus on DJing, DP Epic will continue to share his DJ resources and knowledge through virtual concerts and Spotify and Soundcloud picks of the week. Until the DJ scene comes back and is safe, expect DJ Epic to interact with his fans and thwart ‘noobs’ on games like Destiny 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and more.

DJ Epic’s credentials and awards have helped him gain support through his 13-year career. His nominations for best DJ include numerous times by publications such as The Riverfront Times, Delux Magazine, and The Slumfest Hip Hop Awards.

“It was easy to feel sad, lost, or confused, but I got a lot of inspiration from how the world had to come together, and how to better serve my fans,” said DJ Epic. “I turned to video game streaming on Facebook Gaming as a new venture because it is Covid proof industry, and it allows me to spend more time home with my family.”
