Independent Filmmakers/Screenwriters To Visit and Film in Sierra Leone

July 05 23:24 2021

Perfect Vision of I Am (PVIAM) and Andrée Harris Producitions LLC (AHP) will travel to Sierra Leone in 2022 to launch film opportunities, conduct an acting workshop and produce multiple movies.

The CEOs Andrée M. Harris and Aja (yet) Thomas met years ago and decided to launch this movement with time.  Aja –was born in Sierra Leone and raised in the USA.  Andree was born in the USA. However, on her birthday, in 2020, she discovered through African Ancestry that she was from the Mende Tribe of Sierre Leone and the Balanta Tribe of Guinea-Bissau. Knowing this furthered her desire to visit her homeland. Andrées’ god-daughters are from Sierra Leone, as well as her spiritual son, who resides there.

Andrée is no stranger to working Sierra Leonians, as her first short film VITA-(2019), won several awards in the USA and abroad.  The movie starred Andrée Harris  Adeyemi Ladner, Winstina Taylor (also known as Andrées daughter in the arts), and Sao Bangura.  It was a tale of an American woman (Harris) who falls in love with an African man (Ladner). The relationship becomes turbulent when he must choose between his culture and love: https://youtu.be/J_lyHxMOXb8. Andrée guest-starred as Dr. Rose with Adeyemi and Winstina in their upcoming film, the Good Wife.

Andrée, a self-taught screenwriter, has won over 38 awards for films she acted in, wrote, and directed.

Aja has been writing for some time.  Her latest One-minute movie, “Beauty Shift – Aunt Emma’s Legacy,” has won 5 out of seven categories in the One Minute Film Awards. Andree Harris was her lead actress.  The film was extended to 4 ½ minutes and won 3 nominations: https://youtu.be/xv4C7dmnuyU

Both writers have completed scripts for feature films. Sierra Leones’ Harold Babbi Gray (actor), Choice Jatt (actor & co-writer with Andrée), and others will be assisting with casting locations and securing actors.

The highly esteemed Collins Archie Pearce, a Sierra Leonian native, serves as the Project Producer.

“The movie industry in Sierra Leone faces enormous challenges for prolific filmmakers to produce films. I am one hundred percent on board. Availing opportunities to aspiring artists is a dream come true and has been my vision for years.  Having Andrée and Aja will reach more people. Overcoming the many challenges is not going to be easy, but it’s a great start.” Says Collins Archie Pearce. Ambassador Pearce is a United Kingdom-based film director, promoter, script-writer, and theatre director.

“We are excited about this joint-venture. It is the beginning of great relationship building and to continue to bring hope and strengthen the artistic community in Sierra Leone.” Says Thomas.

“We desire to enhance what has already been established by the great trailblazers that are making a difference.” Says Harris.

Andrée, with the Just 4 Us Foundation, opened It’s a Wrap Studios in the USA. Since then, aspiring actors have spearheaded a branch in Sierra Leone. This branch is utilized for workshops and training about the film industry on both national and international levels.
