Q: How did AlessiaAdora get started?

A: It all started with the pandemic. Alessia and I were thrown into something we have never experienced. After that, we were together much more often and needed to find creative ways to get through this tough time. As we explored ideas, we wanted to share them with the world; thus, AlessiaAdora was born. Our company was the light at the end of the tunnel for our experience with the pandemic. We love sharing our sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle and products with the world.

Q: How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your timeline or decision to start your own business?

A: I would say COVID-19 really instilled our desire for community and bringing people together over similar passions. We wanted to give people hope and something to look forward to during this dark time.

These ideas sprouted when Alessia had to start doing school at home last year. She is so bright and perceptive. She found a creative way to connect with our neighbors by leaving uplifting messages on the sidewalk with chalk. That was our ultimate inspiration for the Streets of Hope collection.

The debut collection is full of vibrant and natural apparel as well as homeware that displays inspirational quotes. It is meant to put a smile on your face even in the darkest of times.

Q: What do you hope for AlessiaAdora in the future, and how do you want your daughter to be involved?

A: Alessia is now involved in every aspect of the business, despite being only seven years old. After all, she is the inspiration for the brand as a whole. So many of our core values, such as sustainability, come from her passion for animals and the Earth.

I am teaching Alessia valuable skills for her future by including her in everything from accounting to marketing. She will take the world by storm!

Q: What does being a mother and entrepreneur mean to you?

A: It’s a balancing act that I love. Since I involve Alessia in everything, I have to keep it fun for her. Without her and our close bond, this business would not be where it is today.

Many of our collections come from random ideas we had during deep conversations, such as our Natural Moxie collection. For example, Alessia was frustrated that none of the natural hair care products on the market worked for her or kids her age, for that matter. So, we took matters into our own hands and created our natural, organic hair care line for kids and tween by addressing their age-specific needs.

Q: What’s something about being your own boss and having a business that you wishyou knew beforehand?

A: I wish I knew how much freedom I would have. I would have gone for this career way earlier in my life. Admittedly, it does take a lot of energy in the beginning, but you learn a lot about yourself during this time, including your limits and learning to ask for help more often. At first, I tried to do everything on my own, but soon I realized that for our business to thrive, I need help, and that’s okay. Finding people who are more talented in a certain field is not a sign of weakness.

Q: What advice do you have for someone looking to take a risk and start their own business?

A: Just go for it! Know that you will make mistakes along the way, but you will always come out on the other side no matter what anyone else says. If owning a business is your dream, you need to follow it wholeheartedly. And always remember to keep sight of why you wanted to start the business to begin with – it will be your motivation.
