August Mission, in partnership with World Trade Center Utah and the Utah Aerospace & Defense Association, organized a trade delegation of Utah leaders in various capacities to travel to Ukraine to form relationships amidst the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This delegation met with Ukrainian officials and industry leaders from April 29th to May 7th, culminating in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his advisors.
From the start of this conflict in Eastern Europe, August Mission has provided response efforts and formed relationships with several local government officials, which has now led to an opportunity to engage with prominent and national leaders in Ukraine. Utah was represented by Utah state senator Stuart Adams, World Trade Center CEO Miles Hansen, August Mission Founder Bruce Roberts, Downeast Co-Founder Jonathan Freedman, and other delegates representing Utah businesses, nonprofits, and organizations in defense, technology, agriculture, energy, and real estate industries.
The delegation generated fruitful connections between Utah and Ukraine’s public and private sector leaders, established deep, long-term ties between civil societies and business communities of Utah and Ukraine, and completed humanitarian projects in Ukraine to establish greater collaboration between Utah’s strong nonprofit community and organizations operating in Ukraine.
“We wanted to transition from servicing immediate needs to creating long-term solutions that would benefit the Ukrainian people,” said Bruce Roberts, August Mission CEO. “The trade mission idea was an effort to foster investment and Cooperation that would be mutually beneficial and create lasting ties.”
