New Milford, NJ – The Dr. John Strobeck Scholarship for Future Doctors is pleased to announce its launch for the 2023 academic year. This scholarship is designed to support and encourage future doctors who are passionate about healthcare and have innovative ideas to improve the quality of care. The scholarship will award $2,000 to one outstanding student who demonstrates creativity, originality, and feasibility in addressing healthcare challenges through a proposed medical idea or technology.
To apply for the Dr. John Strobeck Scholarship for Future Doctors, applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted to a university in the United States on the path to becoming a medical doctor. The scholarship will be awarded based on an essay competition. Applicants should submit an essay of no more than 1000 words that creatively answers the following prompt: “Describe a healthcare issue in the world that needs drastic improvement and how a new medical idea or technology would make that issue better.” The winning essay will be chosen based on its creativity, originality, and feasibility of the proposed idea or technology.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is December 15, 2023, and the winner will be announced on January 15, 2024.
Dr. John Strobeck dedicated his life to providing excellent patient care, education, and empowerment. Born in York, Pennsylvania, in 1946, Dr. Strobeck obtained a B.Sc. degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1968, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, OH, in 1972, and an M.D. from the same university in 1974.
Dr. Strobeck holds certifications from various medical boards, including the American Board of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Diseases, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He has held significant leadership positions at well-respected medical institutions, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, and The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ, where he served as Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Heart Failure Program.
Apart from his leadership roles, Dr. John Strobeck founded and was the Medical Director of the former Heart-Lung Center in Hawthorne, NJ. He is also a member of many distinguished medical societies, such as the American College of Cardiology, the Heart Failure Society of America, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine. Additionally, he was the co-founder of the former Heart Failure Consortium of NJ in Hawthorne, NJ, and currently is a consultant for Prevencio, Inc. in Seattle, WA, and Daxor Corp in New York, NY.
