About Marvelys Lopez:
Marvelys’ passion for uplifting women and babies was ignited during her time as a medical student in Venezuela. She provided delivery services to over 200 babies and witnessed how most systems were broken, causing immense stress for families. She became disillusioned with the medical system’s birth management, finding it to be impersonal, invasive, and lacking in options for the birthing person to decide what was best for them and their babies. As part of her internship in 2000, Marvelys lived among the Yanomami Tribe in the Amazon as a rural doctor, where she gained valuable insight into the transformative power of birth.
In 2003, Marvelys fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving back to Las Vegas, where she established Sweet Beginnings in 2007. Sweet Beginnings has successfully delivered over 1000 babies in Las Vegas, providing a personalized and holistic approach to midwifery care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Marvelys’s experiences in the medical establishment, unique experience with the Yanomami Tribe, and empowering births of her own children solidified her passion for midwifery, which she now uses to support and empower women and families in Southern Nevada.
